NEWS / U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers in New York Arrest Wanted Fugitive

Niagara Falls, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the apprehension of a United States Citizen wanted in Buffalo, N.Y., on charges of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and money laundering. The outstanding warrant dates back to August of 2002.

On November 7, subject Michael Jon Walker was apprehended by CBP officers at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Walker was encountered as a pedestrian as he presented himself for inspection with the intention of surrendering to authorities. Record checks conducted by CBP officers revealed the existence of the outstanding warrant issued from the United States District Court, Western District of New York for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, unlawful possession of listed chemicals and conspiracy to engage in money laundering.

Additional research conducted by CBP officers disclosed that Walker fled the United States to live in Canada sometime after the warrant was issued in 2002.

Walker was arrested by CBP officers and turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

“Based on our interview of the subject, it appears that Walker has been on the run for more than seven years in an attempt to avoid criminal prosecution,” said James T. Engleman, CBP director of Field Operations for the Buffalo Field Office. “CBP continues to work closely with local, state, and other federal law enforcement officials to apprehend wanted criminals”.
