NEWS / CBP Officers Catch Illegal Alien Posing as Construction Worker at San Ysidro

San Diego — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry Thursday caught a Mexican citizen posing as a construction worker in an attempt to allude officers and enter the country illegally.

At about noon on October 27, the man arrived at the border crossing, which is currently undergoing a major reconstruction, wearing a hard hat, work boots, and orange safety vest. He proceeded to walk north through the vehicle lanes of traffic, and past the inspection booth. The CBP officer called out to the man to stop, but the man did not yield and continued walking north. The CBP officer went after him and asked to see credentials, which the man could not produce. CBP officers escorted the man for a thorough inspection.

CBP officers confirmed that the man does not have the proper status to legally enter the United States. CBP officers arrested the 39-year-old male Mexican citizen, and resident of Queretaro, Mexico. The man was booked into the Metropolitan Correctional Center, and will face criminal charges.
