NEWS / Iowa man whose body was found after home explosion died of suicide – death certificate

An Iowa man whose body was found after his home exploded in March had died of a suicide. This was confirmed to CBS 2 Iowa News Now by the police of the Iowa city of Waterloo and is confirmed in the death certificate of the man, Bryan Mueller.

The death certificate, filed in May, indicates that Mueller’s cause of death is “suicide by hanging”. According to the Waterloo Fire Marshal, the explosion was caused by an “intentional” gas leak inside the man’s home.

The explosion at Mueller’s house occurred at 2:30 am on March 26, 2025. Nobody apart from Mueller had been injured or killed in that explosion.
