NEWS / CBP Officers Apprehend Fugitive Wanted on Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Charge

Pharr, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge apprehended a fugitive wanted by the state of Texas on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On November 29, CBP officers working at the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge came in contact with a male traveler returning from Mexico. A CBP primary officer identified the northbound traveler as Richard Harris, a U.S. citizen, age 28 from McQueeney, Texas.

A check of a CBP database identified Harris as a fugitive wanted by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, New Braunfels, Texas on a state charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. CBP officers arrested Harris and transferred him to the custody of the Pharr, Texas Police Department. Harris remains incarcerated and is to be extradited back to New Braunfels, Texas.

Hector A. Mancha, CBP port director, Pharr/Hidalgo said, “Our database played a major role in identifying this man as a wanted fugitive.” Mancha further said, “This is one more example of the enforcement work our frontline officers do daily basis.”
