NEWS / Two wanted felons found by CBP in Virgin IslandsSubjects wanted in Florida and Georgia St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – In recent days, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers detected two passengers with outstanding arrest warrants, traveling from St. Thomas and St. Croix, during separate incidents. CBP officers detected both subjects during pre-clearance inspection where computer systems indicated a positive match with the National Crime Information Center. Yesterday afternoon, CBP detected Maurice Harvey, 27, during pre-clearance inspection at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix, before he board an American Airlines flight to Miami, Florida via San Juan, Puerto Rico. Harvey had an outstanding warrant for narcotics-related charges at Hillsborough County, Florida. After corroborating the warrant, CBP contacted the Miami Dade Police Department to make the arrest upon his arrival at the final destination. On Wednesday, CBP officers identified Charell E. Floyd, 28, during pre-clearance inspection at the Cyril E. King Aiport in St. Thomas, prior to boarding a Delta Airlines flight to Atlanta via San Juan, Puerto Rico. Floyd had a warrant for his arrest issued by the Coweta County, Ga. Sheriff’s Office for credit card fraud. Following warrant confirmation, the subject was arrested by Atlanta Police upon arrival at the Hartsfiled-Jackson International Airport. Through pre-clearance inspections, CBP Officers detect many individuals wanted by authorities in the continental U.S., upon their return to the mainland from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. “CBP officers are always vigilant of dangerous individuals who try to move freely, trying to elude detection,” stated Marcelino Borges, director of field operations for Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands. “Technology and close collaboration among law enforcement allows us to detect felons and bring them to justice.” http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/news_releases/local/10292010_2.xml |
