NEWS / Falfurrias Agents Seize More than $9.3 Million in Narcotics in Just Over a Week


Falfurrias, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Station have seized 11,719 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of more than $9.3 million, in eight unrelated cases since Thursday.

The most significant seizure occurred early Saturday morning at the Border Patrol checkpoint located south of Falfurrias. During a primary inspection a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to a vacuum tanker driven by a United States citizen. Agents referred the vehicle to the secondary inspection area where they discovered 366 bundles of marijuana, with a total weight of 8,451 pounds, hidden inside the tanker.


Thursday, agents apprehended a U.S. citizen who attempted to smuggle 117 bundles of marijuana, with a total weight of 2,972 pounds, through the Border Patrol checkpoint south of Falfurrias. A government K-9 alerted to the tractor-trailer during primary inspection. The contraband was concealed inside moving boxes.


The Drug Enforcement Administration assumed custody of the narcotics, conveyances and all subjects.
