NEWS / Dabney Coleman's Death Certificate Reveals Cause of Hollywood Legend's Passing

The official cause of death for Hollywood icon Dabney Coleman, who passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday, May 18, has been disclosed through the release of his death certificate. According to the document obtained by online entertainment periodical The Blast, Coleman's demise was attributed to cardiopulmonary arrest [CPA], commonly known as cardiac arrest or circulatory arrest.

Cardiopulmonary arrest refers to the cessation of effective ventilation and circulation, a condition which, unfortunately, led to Coleman's passing. The document also indicated that the actor struggled with dysphagia, a medical term for difficulty swallowing, and chronic systolic congestive heart failure, underlying health issues that likely contributed to his demise.

Coleman's daughter, Quincy, confirmed her father's peaceful passing, stating to the Associated Press, "He took his last earthly breath peacefully and exquisitely." His death occurred at his residence in Santa Monica, marking the end of a remarkable life that left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.

Born in 1932 in Austin, Texas, Coleman's journey to stardom was a testament to resilience and talent. After serving in the Army, he heeded the advice of fellow actor Zachary Scott and pursued a career in acting. His early roles in television shows and films showcased his versatility, though widespread recognition eluded him for two decades.

However, it was his portrayal of the corrupt mayor in "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" that catapulted him to fame in 1976. Coleman's performance resonated with audiences, earning the show a cult following and solidifying his status as a Hollywood staple. Subsequent roles in acclaimed films and television series, such as "War Games," "You've Got Mail," and "Boardwalk Empire," further cemented his legacy in the industry.

In the iconic comedy "9 to 5," Coleman's portrayal of a despicable boss left an unforgettable impression on audiences. His ability to breathe life into complex characters earned him accolades, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award.

Following news of his passing, tributes poured in from colleagues and fans alike. Kevin Costner, who worked alongside Coleman in "Yellowstone," expressed his grief on social media, while comedian Ben Stiller hailed Coleman's contributions to cinema and television.

As Hollywood mourns the loss of one of its brightest stars, Coleman's daughter Quincy fondly remembered her father's spirit, describing him as someone who "crafted his time here on earth with a curious mind, a generous heart, and a soul on fire with passion, desire, and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity."

Dabney Coleman's legacy will endure through his timeless performances, reminding audiences of the power of storytelling and the enduring impact of a true Hollywood legend.
