NEWS / Actor Julian McMahon died at de-facto Scientology HQ – death certificate

The death certificate of Australian-American actor Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and the Fantastic Four, has revealed that he died in Clearwater, Florida, the de-facto headquarters of the controversial Church of Scientology. The vital record also revealed that the movie star was cremated without a funeral service.

The actor’s death certificate was obtained by Daily Mail. The revelation followed an announcement by McMahon’s wife Kelly announcing her husband’s death at the age of 56 after a battle with throat cancer, which had metastasized to his lungs.

The location of McMahon’s death and cremation raised some eyebrows as the City of Clearwater houses The Flag Building, which serves as the de-facto headquarters of the controversial Church of Scientology, which also owns 184 other properties in the city, located in the Tampa Bay Area west of Tampa and north of St. Petersburg.

The actor was the only son of William McMahon (1908-1988), an Australian politician who served in numerous ministerial roles that culminated in his term as prime minister between 1971 and 1972. He became famous for his roles Ben Lucini in Australian soap opera Home and Away (1988-present), Detective John Grant in American crime drama Profiler (1996-2000), Cole Turner in American supernatural drama Charmed (1998-2006), Dr. Christian Troy in American medical drama Nip/Tuck (2003-2010), Dr. Doom in the superhero movies Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), Jonah in the Marvel TV show Runaways (2017-2019), Jess LaCroix in American police procedural FBI: Most Wanted (2020-present), as well as the movies Premonition (2007),Red (2010), and The Surfer (2024).
