NEWS / Tennessee man arrested for allegedly faking marriage certificate to visit jailed woman

A man from the Tennessee city of Elizabethton was arrested for faking a marriage certificate to gain access to a woman jailed in the Johnson City Detention Facility, according to the police.

Robert S. Hicks was charged with criminal simulation and jailed at the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. He appeared in court on May 22.

Hicks was arrested after an internal investigation into an incident reported May 14, local newspaper Johnson City Press reports. Police say he produced a fake marriage certificate, which he showed to jail staff to gain visitation rights with the inmate.
