NEWS / State of Washington issues first digital apostille

The Office of the Secretary of State of Washington has issued the state’s first digital apostille as part of a pilot program with the City University of Seattle and Virginia-based contractor @Gov, Inc. The digital apostille was issued for the diploma of an international student who had graduated from the City University of Seattle.

“I am so excited for this digital option to be available to communities across Washington, even beyond the classroom,” Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs was quoted by The Facts Newspaper as stating, “This allows quicker processing times and reduced expense, and it’s verifiably secure and encrypted.”

The e-apostille program was launched in February 2024 when the Corporations and Charities Division of the Office of the Secretary of State of Washington began using technology provided by @Gov to produce digital apostilles. Washington is now the 7th state to issue e-apostilles, joining Montana, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Utah, and Minnesota.

One added benefit of using a digital apostille is that unlike a paper apostille, it can be reprinted and re-used an unlimited number of times.

A&M Logos International welcomes this development that puts Washington, a state of over 7 million people, into the digital age of international document legalization. We continue to provide assistance to individuals requiring an apostille or authentication certificates for documents from any U. S. state. Call us at (212) 233-7061 or e-mail us at info@apostille.us. You may also wish to apply on our website.
