NEWS / Shoreview Woman Sentenced for Embezzling $421,150 from Her Employer

MINNEAPOLIS—Earlier today in federal court, a 38-year-old Shoreview woman was sentenced for embezzling approximately $421,150 from her employer during a two-year period. United States District Court Judge David S. Doty sentenced Kimberly Dana Swenson to 12 months and one day in prison on one count of mail fraud. Swenson was charged on March 11, 2011, and pleaded guilty on April 18, 2011.

In her plea agreement, Swenson admitted that from 2008 through 2010, she embezzled the money from Allianz Life Insurance Co., where she worked as a client services specialist. She was hired in 2002. In order to obtain the funds, Swenson made false and misleading statements and representations to her employer.

This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Dixon.
