NEWS / Queen Elizabeth II’s death certificate shows “old age” as cause of deathQueen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom died of old age, according to her death certificate published by the National Records of Scotland on September 29, 2022. The queen died on September 08, 2022, at 3:10 pm UK time (10:10 EDT) at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Scotland, United Kingdom. She was the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch, having been on the throne for over 70 years. Her death resulted in her 73-year-old son Charles taking over the reins as King of the United Kingdom. He was formally proclaimed King Charles III on September 10. Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral on September 19 was attended by royal family members and political leaders from around the world, while tens of thousands of people crowded the streets of London during a 25-mile procession that carried Elizabeth’s flag-draped coffin to the King George VI Chapel (named after Elizabeth’s father King George VI), where the late monarch was interred with her late husband Prince Philip of Edinburgh, who had passed away on April 9, 2021, as well as her mother Queen Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, and her father King George VI. “Even as we grieve, we give thanks for this most faithful life,” King Charles III was quoted by CNN as saying. |
