NEWS / Ozzy Osbourne’s death certificate released, listing heart attack as cause of death

The death certificate of legendary British singer Ozzy Osbourne has been released, listing “acute myocardial infarction” as the cause of death. The vital record was released a week after the heavy metal legend had been laid to rest in his home city of Birmingham, West Midlands, England.

The death certificate also listed coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction as “joint causes” of death, according to The Independent. The document, which had been submitted by the rock legend’s daughter Aimee Osbourne, also indicated that his occupation was “Songwriter, Performer, and Rock Legend.”

Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 at his family home in Buckinghamshire on July 22, just a few weeks after his farewell tour, which Osbourne went on despite suffering from Parkinson’s disease and having lost the ability to walk.

Osbourne rose to fame as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, considered to be the pioneer of heavy metal. Adopting the title “Prince of Darkness,” Ozzy became known for his dark and controversial stage persona. In 1979, he was fired from the band due to his problems with drug and alcohol addiction.

The Prince of Darkness then embarked on a solo career, releasing Blizzard of Ozz in 1980 and Diary of a Madman in 1981. Years later, having achieved legendary status, Osbourne reunited with Black Sabbath on multiple occasions—in 1997-2005, 2012, 2017, and 2025. He was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice—in 2006 as a member of Black Sabbath and in 2024 as a solo artist.

Osbourne’s wife Sharon founded the heavy metal festival Ozzfest, held between 1996 and 2010. His family participating in the MTV reality show The Osbournes (2002-2005) alongside Sharon and his children Kelly and Jack Osbourne. He also co-starred in the reality TV series Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour (2016-2018) and The Osbournes Want to Believe (2020-2021).
