NEWS / NYC apartment building residents angry at “aggressive” squatter with criminal record

The residents of an apartment building in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City are demanding action against an “aggressive” squatter with an extensive criminal record who has been repeatedly trespassing in their building.

The individual in question, identified by police as 42-year-old Muhammed Barrow, reportedly has an extensive history of arrests for trespassing, burglary, and other criminal activity. Neighbors are stating that his behavior has gotten increasingly aggressive.

"I think when there's repeated offenses like this with verbal things that are said and aggressions that have happened that are so serious in nature - I would hope that something would be done about it a little bit more," a resident of the building who chose to remain anonymous was quoted by Fox News 5 New York as stating.

"Safety, you know, just having someone who sort of knows where I live, the times of day that I leave my apartment, all the things that I'm doing, someone who's not always been aggressive, but over the years has become, I would say, more aggressive than he was initially," another anonymous resident lamented.

The building’s residents have expressed frustration that the police are not able to arrest the man unless he is caught committing a crime.

It is believed that Barrow gains access to the building through a propped-up door or by accessing the roof from neighboring buildings. He has been photographed and recorded sleeping in the hallways.
