NEWS / Dallas County conducts criminal record expungement expo

The Dallas County Criminal District Attorney's office, Dallas County District Clerk's office, and Dallas County Public Defender's office have conducted an expo in which individuals could expunge certain criminal records. Individuals eligible for expungement included those who had been arrested but never charged, those who had their case dismissed without any type of community supervision or probation prior to dismissal (except for Class C offenses), those who had been acquitted on the charge by a judge, jury, or appellate court, or those pardoned by the Texas Governor or US President. Individuals not eligible for expungement include those whose case is still pending, those who had been convicted, those placed on probation, community supervision, or deferred adjudication for any felony or misdemeanor (with the exception of Class C misdemeanor deferred adjudications), or those convicted or placed on probation from another felony arising from the same arrest. Applicants could submit their requests to have their records expunged until July 11. Applicants whose petitions are approved will be informed by e-mail by September 12. A graduation ceremony will be conducted January 21, 2023, for those who are given expungements.
