NEWS / CBP Officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge Seize a Load of Cocaine Found Hidden in a Pickup Tr


Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Hidalgo International Bridge seized 24.5 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $784,484 last Saturday afternoon.

On August 14, 2010, CBP officers working at the Hidalgo International Bridge came in contact with a northbound 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck and its driver, a 41-year-old U.S. citizen from McAllen, Texas. A CBP K-9 officer referred the vehicle and male driver to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, officers seized 10 packages containing cocaine that were found hidden within the pickup truck. The vehicle was also seized by CBP.

The male driver was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.

Hector A. Mancha, CBP Port Director, Hidalgo-Pharr said, “Our frontline officers continue working hard to secure our nation’s borders and to prevent drug loads from entering our country and communities.” Mancha further said,” I commend our officers for a job well done.”
