NEWS / Brownsville CBP Officers, Border Patrol Agents Apprehend of Fugitive Wanted for Aggravated Assault aBrownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents working at the Veterans International Bridge apprehended a Mexican male wanted on outstanding warrants from Harris County, Texas for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a child. On September 20, CBP officers and Border Patrol agents working outbound enforcement operations at the Veterans’ International Bridge encountered a green Ford Ranger as it attempted to exit the United States to enter Mexico. The driver, identified as David Tapia Carrasco, a 28-year-old Mexican citizen and resident of Los Angeles was referred to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, checks of a CBP database identified David Tapia Carrasco as the subject of active arrest warrants from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston, Texas. David Tapia Carrasco has an active warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a child. CBP officers and Border Patrol agents arrested Tapia Carrasco and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office. David Tapia Carrasco was transported to the Carrizales-Rucker County Jail where he remains incarcerated pending extradition to Harris County to face pending charges. “CBP officers and Border Patrol agents continue to make arrests and take wanted subjects off the streets of the Rio Grande Valley. A unified commitment to border security has proven successful with yet another arrest of a wanted person as he attempted to leave the country. This is a good arrest by our CBP officers and agents and another example of the great work being done on the border,” said Michael Freeman, CBP port director, Brownsville. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/news_releases/09212009_3.xml |
