Blaine, Wash. — Early Monday morning, Border Patrol agents from the Blaine Station conducted a vehicle stop which resulted in the seizure of 37.4 pounds of Ecstasy pills valued at $1.2 million.

Agents witnessed two individuals load into an awaiting vehicle on the United States side after running south from Canada through the Peace Arch Park. Border Patrol agents followed the vehicle south and conducted the stop on I-5, where they found a gym bag containing the pills inside the vehicle.

Blaine Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Bates said, “Border Patrol personnel are vigilant in maintaining their watch of the border.” He added, “This is a fine example of their dedication to protecting the United States.”

The two subjects who were seen illegally entering the United States were taken into custody and will be charged with smuggling the narcotics.
