NEWS / Angola: Angola And Russia Review Bilateral Cooperation

Angolan and Russian authorities are reviewing matters related to the legal-juridical instruments and the institutional and financial cooperation underlying the partnership between the two countries.

This was announced Wednesday in Luanda by Angolan Planning minister, Ana Dias Louren?o.

Ana Dias Lourenco was speaking at the end of an audience she granted to the Russian minister of Natural Resources, Lury Trutneu Petrovich, that is in the country to prepare the visit his president, Vladimir Putin, will pay to Angola in September this year.

At the meeting, according to her, the parties also discussed the signing of an accord reflecting the various areas of cooperation between the two governments, with a view to the continuation and deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries that started in 1975, when Russia was Soviet Union.

The minister further stated that the visit of Vladimir Putin to Angola will boost existing cooperation.

She considered as positive the Angola/Russia cooperation that gained a momentum with the visit president Jose Eduardo dos Santos paid to that European country in 1998.

Lury Trutnev Petrovich, who is at the head of a delegation, appraised the level of implementation of the decisions from the latest meeting held in December 2005 in Moscow, Russia.

Angola and Russia enjoy cooperation in the areas of education, fisheries, mining, tourism and social reintegration.
