Actor George Wendt died from cardiac arrest, according to his death certificate released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to the online periodical TMZ.

The vital record also lists congestive hearth failure, coronary artery disease, and hypertension as underlying causes that led to the immediate cause of death. The actor also had other contributing conditions, such as end-stage renal disease (kidney failure) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol).

Actor George Wendt passed away in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles on May 20. He was cremated on May 28. The actor is best known for his role as Norm Peterson on the NBC sitcom Cheers between 1982 and 1993. He was also known for his memorable movie appearances in the movies Somewhere in Time (1980), Airplane II: The Sequel (1982), Dreamscape (1984), No Small Affair (1984), Fletch (1985), Guilty by Suspicion (1991), Forever Young (1992), The Little Rascals (1994), Man of the House (1995), Spice World (1997), Outside Providence (1999), Lakeboat (2000), Sandy Wexler (2017), and The Climb (2019). He briefly had his own CBS sitcom, known as The George Wendt Show, in 1995, and made guest appearances on Saturday Night Live, Columbo, The Twilight Zone, Frasier, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Portlandia.
