FAQ / Where can I find advice on mortgage issues?

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recognizes that education plays a key role in helping families become homeowners. To help more Americans understand the home buying process and their financial options, home buyers can receive housing counseling services. Housing counseling prepares you for homeownership by helping you understand the responsibilities of purchasing and owning a home.

HUD funds housing counseling agencies throughout the country that give advice on buying a home, renting, defaults, foreclosures, reverse mortgages, credit issues and credit counseling.

For more information, please contact HUD at 1.800.569.4287 or locate a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency in your state.
